The Tennessee Three

So impressed and moved by the heart, oratory, and dedication of Memphis activist Justin Pearson today, and the solidarity of the crowds of young people in attendance. The good fight is alive! I wish I could dwell on that uplifting example, but the smug, and thinly veiled racist behavior of the white republican super-majority legislature was nauseating, to put it politely. The travesty of the expulsion of representatives Pearson and Jones is akin to arresting a person for Jaywalking without taking into consideration that they had run into traffic to rescue a child. This abuse of power is being witnessed by the world in real time, and makes Tennessee look bad. So I prefer to dwell on the noble and inspiring conduct if the Tennessee Three. I may be ahead of the curve here, but I think Justin Pearson should run for president! I would not only vote for him, I would volunteer to work on his campaign. "The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice." I choose to believe that Dr. King got it right.
