You‘re Still Mine

They’ve still got dirt roads on Cooper mountain
Just like when I used to take you home
We’d sit for hours in the driveway talkin’
Till your daddy turned the porch light on... and

Sometimes on a June or July evening
We’d cruise around maybe end up at the lake
Put the windows down and talk about the future
But it never works out like the plans you make

Every time that summer re-run plays, feels like it was only yesterday
I can almost smell the new-mown hay and the wildflowers in your hair
You used to tease me 'bout the way I drive, said we were lucky just to be alive
Now it's more dangerous to close my eyes ‘cause it always takes me there
To that place and time where you‘re still mine

I remember Labor Day we drove out by the ocean
You had your feet up on the dashboard in the sun
WKLC played an all Eagles week-end
And we sang ‘em at the top of our lungs

We were livin’ it up at the Hotel California
And that Peaceful Easy Feeling was so strong
But now I’m just some Desperado
And you’re Already Gone

Every time that summer re-run plays, feels like it was only yesterday
I can almost smell the new-mown hay and the wildflowers in your hair
Every minute you were by my side I felt lucky just to be alive
Now I only see you when I close my eyes and it always takes me there
To that place and time where you‘re still mine, you’re still mine...

Nothing lasts forever
But we can be together

Every time that summer re-run plays
And I go back to yesterday
I got you by my side
All I have to do is close my eyes
And I always end up there in that place and time
Where you‘re still mine, you’re still mine...

They’ve still got dirt roads on Cooper mountain...
